Searching for a magazine article online

So, I'm looking for an article called "Cover to Cover" in the magazine The Atlantic Monthly. The issue is July/August 2006; Cover to Cover; Volume 298, No. 1; 142-144.

The article contains a review of Staying Up Much Too Late, by Gordon Thiesen (St. Martin's), which is reviewed by Benjamin Healy and Benjamin Schwarz.

What database search do I use to find it on in PDF form? I could just buy it off the Atlantic Monthly store, but I figure the library would have a copy.

Thanks!

(Also, I'm interested in searching for other magazine articles on Edward Hopper, but I am wondering about which database search engine to use, since I can probably use it for this specific article, too.)

You do not need to go to a database if you already have the citation information. Just use the E-Journal Portal to see if we have it electronically. You will see that we have several resources available and that article does appear inside several databases. But if you start with the database, it is like searching for a needle in a haystack.

For your other search, I would start with the database academic search premier first, because it covers all subjects areas and as a high percentage of full-text.

Just to expand slightly on what Brian said, Academic Search Premier is always a good place to start looking for articles- a keyword search there for "Edward Hopper" brings back 194 articles, for example. The article from the Atlantic that you had a reference to is basically just a one sentence notice of the book in question- so be glad you didn't pay to access via the Atlantic's own web page (which, for anyone listening, you should never do until you confirm that we don't already have access to whichever source you are about to spend money on!)

If you want to focus specifically on academic articles about Hopper in the field of art history, you should probably use (or also use) Art Abstracts or Bibliography of the History of Art, two other specialized databases.

Finally, to access these databases and full text journals, you'll need to be on campus and plugged directly into the campus network or if you are off campus or using the campus wireless network, you'll need to be running VPN.

And, of course, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
