case and Onecommunity's free university circle wifi: Where and How to use?

Last Thurday there was an article in the plain dealer about Onecommunity's free wifi service in the University Circle area. It even had a map with dots showing the coverage areas, but unfortuneately doesn't seem to contain the pertinent information about how to connect. Turns out my apartment was right in the center of one, so I tried to find this publicised free wifi but all I found was my neighbor's unsecured wifi.

What are the SSIDs used for this network, and is there a more detailed map of the APs? It sounds like it could be a good service and they got good publicity, but other than publicity, information seems slim. Thanks!

"The network officially went live on Thursday, OneCommunity announced at a technology symposium on the Case campus. It uses more than 100 access points on utility poles and other structures to create blanket Wi-Fi access in most of the University Circle area and parts of Cleveland Heights and East Cleveland."

The network name is OneCommunityPublic. I used it, had no problem

Just seconding the posted info...SSID is OneCommunityPublic, my laptop could usually pick up its signal from the freshman dorms.

Try rebooting your system, try rescanning for networks, and if that doesn't work try disabling and re-enabling the wireless adapter and trying again.

thanks! The issue is probably that my computer is out of range. I'll try with one of those home brew directional antennas, maybe that will be enough to bring it in.

Has anyone tried using it at the Starbucks on Euclid? Is it blocked there or something?

Might be since I think Starbucks offers its own.

I haven't tried it at the Euclid Starbucks because whenever I'm anywhere near that one it's just as easy to go to the Village one and use Case wireless, but I have gotten it at the Cedar Starbucks.

Seeing how there still isn't an access point map available from OneCommunity, we should try to make one. If you are on and especially OFF CAMPUS and are able to connect, please post here your location where you found the signal!
