Do many people at Case use Twitter?
I'm trying to use it, and I'm following a couple people I know (though that doesn't seem to be the trend), but I'd like more people that at least might talk about things/people I'm familiar with around campus. my profile is at: http://twitter.com/kyle_niemeyer Reply to this message, follow me on twitter, whatever. I like twitter, but I need more people. |

I tried following you, but as usual, Twitter is having issues. They realllly need to get that stuff sorted out.

Yeah, on the status blog (http://status.twitter.com/) they were having issues as of Monday morning with no update yet that things have been fixed. I can't seem to follow anyone new at the moment.
Tweeting seems to be ok though. |

You know smalltalk? that really annoying thing you have to do every day with people you don't care about anyway and just want to go away so you can continue with your thoughts?
Why the hell would we put that into electronic form? I hate web 2.0. The more I listen to this forum the more the all Magnificent Maddox makes sense. http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=smalltalk Twitter is an even more extreme than blogging, all based around this myth people believe into that someone cares about you. |

I felt that way at first about Twitter - wasn't really sure what the point was. But I've seen people use it to keep in touch with people without using that smalltalk (over AIM or something), or just keep up to date with people in their area. |

Samuel Rees: I am sure some people feel this same about this forum. Yet, people keep coming back and participating. |

Intelligent conversation ( or seemingly so ) directed at another specific individual or post is different than micro info sent in a mode of broadcast. I am talking to you anonymous, that you are wrong and reasons.
Compare that to me making a website broadcasting "YOU ARE WRONG." Edited 1 time(s). Last edit was july 07, 12:31pm by Samuel Rees. |

Samuel Rees: Many posts on this forum are no different than the information broadcasted by twitter. I have read about many random activities that have nothing to do with the discussion they have been attached. |

The point of twitter isn't really stupid. It's a tool. If you (and in this case, your social network) use it intelligently, it's rather useful. Instead of calling *all* of my friends to say, "let's meet at (insert name of establishment), I can leave a twitter message. Broadcast can be useful.
Also....telling an anonymous poster they're specifically wrong isn't really that different than broadcasting it. |
