Did anyone's Linux machines die today?

I'm in House 3 and my Linux desktop and file server both shutoff at approximately 11:50AM today. My roommate also has a Linux machine in his room that became unreachable at the same time as well (but did not forcefully power off like mine). It wasn't a power outage since all of my other electronics (on the same power strip) stayed on, including my Windows machine. My roommate's Mac stayed on as well.

I fully expect this thread to be ignored, but if anyone has any info, it would definitely settle the curiosities of myself and the few other linux hackers I asked about this already.

Yeah I mean this behavior was so bizarre I just had to post on the Forum to see if it happened to anyone else. Two computers just shutoff on their own while everything else stays powered (and a third one becomes unresponsive). And one common thread is that they were all running Linux. That's too weird to let go, ya know?

A handful of machines (windows) were unable to get to the internet in any way the same time the other night in the Phi Kappa Theta house...

It appears several problems occurred over the weekend. See: http://blog.case.edu/its-status/

There were a lot of issues, but none that would cause Linux boxes to randomly shut off at the same time.

What I think we have here, and I've seen this before, is a coordinated, multiple suicide attempt. Were you using your Windows and Mac machines way more often, so much as to cast doubt upon your Linux boxes in regards to their own self-worth? Or maybe you were just being too bossy? It's always sudo apt-get update, sudo make me a sandwich. Never, sudo take a break because you've done a great job today.

There was some kind of power blip on the quad over the weekend that disrupted the air conditioning - people came in today and it was hot as hell in Nord. In the Nord server room, the unit was running but reported a loss of power.

"Make me a sandwich."
"What? Make it yourself!"
"Sudo make me a sandwich."
"Okay."

Crawford had a/c issues over the weekend too, I believe. My a/c in the village was also not working. What the hell?

Here in Astronomy, I had some of my UPS's that run logging report that there was a brownout on the AC inputs.

11:48:47 UPS on Battery Brownout 066.3 V
11:48:47 Normal power restored UPS on line

This caused some of my machines that are not on UPS to reboot. I suspect that it was only on one phase of the AC power, as other machines did not get the reboot.
