Events forum?

Howdie forum moderator people...
A while back I posted a party with the Cleveland Fagowees Ski club on the general board..
Which went over fine…
We always look for members, and have TONS of events..

However, then I posted a kayak class with metroparks in general and was told it would be better to place that in classies..

I am soon to be publicity chair for Fagowees (ski and social club), and want to “advertise” events and such throughout campus…
And I want to use the forums as one of the places to do so.
We are not selling a “product”, rather advertising a social club…would that fit in general again? (so I don’t get reamed this time!) lol..
I think more folks would see it in general…you know?

We need an event board, don’t ya think?
I mean, for on campus and off… yah, that would be cool, no? Greek, student groups, etc..can post to it (and my ski club! Haha)

Thoughts?

It would probably be better for you to use one of the existing forums - they have an established readership so your post would probably have better visibility. I don't really care whether you use the General or Classies forum for advertising an event, so you should just choose whichever you think is the best fit for your post.

I recall your postings. I think people were trying to distinguish the difference between 1)advertising an event off campus that costs money as if you are posting for the outsiders, and 2)inviting people to join you in an event you are participating. There appears to be a fine line between the two, but it probably depends on your wording. Have fun!

well, the thing is, they both cost money..
to join the ski club, there is a membership...and some of the parties have a fee for members and non members alike..

tho, it is true, that the ski club, i am asking people to join US in the event, and then possibly join the club.

the paddling classes, i was asking if there was interest in joining the class...and me (because i was planning on participating).

i will post ski club in general anyhooo...and if they beyotch at me, so be it *wink*

i dont check the forums often, but do other campus orgs (and non campus) post events on here? i know at weatherhead, when they had message boards, they used to post events all of the time..

It varies with who in the group participates in the forums, or who you think is reading the forums.
